The UCSB Hyperloop Team is an ambitious group of nearly 50 students dedicated to developing the future of transportation through the Hyperloop vision. This technology is a new and futuristic mode of transportation proposed by Elon Musk in which a magnetically levitating pod is suspended in a low-pressure tube. Passengers or freight are loaded into the vehicle and accelerated to speeds nearly 200mph faster than that of a commercial jet.
This means that a trip from San Francisco to LA - one that could take 7 hours or more in a car – is now a 30 minute hyperloop ride! SpaceX has built a mile-long enclosed test track as well as an open-air track at their headquarters in Hawthorne, CA, and has been hosting an annual competition where teams across the world compete to build the fastest hyperloop pod. Last year, the UCSB Hyperloop team placed in the top 15 of nearly 1,200 competing teams.
This year we’re aiming for the #1 spot and YOU can help us! By donating to our campaign, you will allow us gain the funds necessary to develop the FASTEST hyperloop pod!
Donate today and be a part of history as UCSB makes the future of travel a present day reality!
