UCSB Rowing has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1965, when the team practiced in the Santa Barbara harbor.
One year later, the team relocated to Lake Cachuma. On January 21, 1967, the first launch was constructed on its shores.
Following the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, UC Santa Barbara was honored to receive the docks from the Lake Casitas events. These docks have been a vital part of our boathouse for the past 40 years. Now, it is time to replace the dock for the safety and performance of our team. A new UCSB Rowing Dock is an investment in the team’s success. It is a commitment to attracting top student-athletes with modern and effective equipment.
Our rowing program has consistently improved its national rankings and attracted outstanding student-athletes. The total cost for this essential improvement is $125,000. We are thrilled to announce that an anonymous alumni donor has generously pledged $60,000 towards this project contingent on our ability to secure the remaining $65,000. We need to raise $30,000 to reach our goal.
Your immediate and significant contribution will make a direct impact, helping us meet the matching challenge and ensuring the continued success of UCSB Rowing. Join us in this exciting chapter of our history by making a gift today.
