Gauchos everywhere couldn’t be prouder of the historic 2016 UCSB Baseball season.  As the curtain closes on an amazing run at the College World Series it’s a good time to reflect on some of the team’s accomplishments.

• First ever College World Series appearance and win in program history.
• First ever Super Regional appearance and series win in program history.
• Knocked the #2 (Louisville) and #3 (Miami) national seeds out of the tournament.
• Successfully navigating the last two weeks of school, including finals, while on the road – no small feat! 
• Third NCAA Regional appearance in the past four years.
• One of the most spectacular game winning grand slams in college baseball history.
• The #1 play on ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 and more than 3 million views online.
• School record for wins (43) in one season.

As all Gauchos bask in the glow of the best season in UCSB Baseball history, we also begin to look ahead to the excitement of next season and the future of the program.  We are asking all Gaucho faithful to consider a congratulatory gift that will both honor the accomplishments of the 2016 team and help build the foundation of success for years to come.  All donations made to this micro campaign will go directly to the Baseball Fund.  Your donation will help the team check a few projects off the list, similar to the new outfield wall padding and field improvements that were finished this year.  Some of the possible projects for the offseason include renovating the home bullpen, new perimeter fencing and repaving inside the main stadium entrance.  Whatever projects are designated, your gift will be used for the areas of greatest need as determined by Coach Checketts.
